Tamayo grabs sixth overall in Qatar; American juniors ride to podium spots on the track
It was quite a weekend for USA Cycling Development Program athletes with several strong performances on both the road and track. Lauren Tamayo (Asheville, N.C./Peanut Butter & Co. Twenty12) rode to a sixth-place overall finish for the USA Cycling Women's National Team in the Ladies Tour of Qatar. In Denmark, two pairs of American juniors rode onto the podium in the Copenhagen Junior Three-Day. Jesse Marans (Newport Coast, Calif./Major Motion) and Colt Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Bike Religion) grabbed silver while Matt Baranoski (Perkasie, Pa./Team Alliance Environmental) and Daniel Farinha (San Jose, Calif./SJBC) rode to bronze.

USA Cycling fielded a team of six for the Ladies Tour of Qatar which took place Feb. 3-5. The team was comprised of Lauren Tamayo, Sinead Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pean Butter & Co Twenty 12), Kat Carroll (Sausalito, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co Twenty12), Janel Holcomb ( San Diego, Calif.), Amber Rais (Reno, Nev./Team TIBCO) and Shelley Evans (Scotts Valley, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co. Twenty12). Lauren Tamayo turned in the top performance for the team, finishing third in the final stage, and ending the three-day, 304-kilometer event in sixth-place overall. Shelley Evans was next for the team in 46th while Janel Holcomb and Sinead Miller were 52nd and 66th respectively. The USA Cycling Women's National Team was 12th in the final team classification.

Two pairs of USA Cycling Development Program junior athletes traveled to Denmark to represent the U.S. on the track at the Copenhagen Junior Three-Day, and both teams found themselves on the podium at the end of the three days. Jesse Marans and Colt Peterson grabbed the silver medal while Matt Baranoski and Daniel Farinha rode to the bronze.

Additionally, two USA Cycling Development Program athletes are contesting the Copenhagen Six-Day competition, which ends on Tuesday, February 9. Kit Karzen (Beverly Hills, Calif./NOW-MS Society) and Ian Moir (Long Beach, Calif./Rock Racing) are competing in the U23 event.
