Seminars at Cyclocross Nationals

USA Cycling Coaching Education will offer free educational seminars in Bend, OR in conjunction with cyclocross nationals.  The sessions are open to anyone.   The schedule and session descriptions are below.  USA Cycling certified coaches will earn 0.1 CEU per session they attend.

Topic: Training and Racing Cyclocross

December 10     7pm

Presenter: Matt McNamara

Coach McNamara will discuss goal setting, technique, tactics, equipment and training.  For those whose season is ending with nationals, the presentation can be used to plan for the next ‘cross season; for those who will continue to compete in cyclocross, the information could be useful in beating your opponents the next time.  The session is appropriate for all levels of racers from juniors to old-timers.

Matt McNamara has been racing all manner of bikes since 1986. A voracious consumer of  knowledge, he was part of USA Cyclings first ever Expert/Level 2 clinic in 1995, innaugural Elite/Level 1 clinic in 2004 and has his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado. He has managed teams from amateur to pro, including a stint as Director Sportif for Specialized in 1996-97. He brings this combination of experience, education, and committment to his athletes and teams every day. Currently he is the owner of Sterling Sports Group, a coaching company based in Northern California, and runs a small regional cyclocross team.

 

Topic: USA Cycling Cyclocross Development  Pathway Discussion

Presenters: Marc Gullickson and Geoff Proctor

Coach Gullickson and Coach Proctor will provide an overview of USA Cycling cyclocross  junior and U23 development programs and opportunities.  Both coaches will provide information on European racing opportunities in cyclocross.  Bring your questions! If you are a junior, U23 or parent of one, please attend to ask questions and learn more about opportunities.

Marc Gullickson is the program director for USA Cycling in Mountain Bike and Cyclocross.

Geoff Proctor offers many opportunities for cyclocross racers to race in Europe; Geoff also works closely with Marc on USA Cycling programs.

Topic: Women in Cyclocross

Presenter: Kimberly Flynn Fasczewski

Coach Fasczewski will offer tips on getting women involved in cyclocross including her experience as a racer and becoming interested in cyclocross to holding specialty clinics for women interested in cyclocross.  Kym is co-owner of Vantaggio Fitness and Nutrition in Chattanooga, TN.

 

Topic: Build on ‘Cross Fitness for the 2010 Season

Presenter: Mark Fasczewski

Coach Fasczewski will discuss how to take the fitness gains made from cyclocross training to build for a successful 2010 racing season.  In addition to being a great sport, cyclocross is also a great way to maintain and develop fitness during the colder months to build for a successful road or mountain bike season.  Take the fitness gained and use that as a stepping stone to a rocking 2010 racing season.  Coach Fasczewski will offer training tips for the remainder of the ‘cross season to jump right into successful 2010 racing.  Coach Fasczewski is co-owner of Vantaggio Fitness and Nutrition in Chattanooga, TN.
